About Erick
Erick Cordero lives in Palmer with his wife Karen, a lifelong Alaskan, and their two children. He works as director of a pro bono program for a statewide nonprofit organization and serves as Vice-President of the board of the Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District. He was elected to the school board in 2009.
In 2005, he received an award of merit from the Center for Missing and Exploited Children and was selected as an Alaskan Top 40 under 40 for his work on pro bono legal services for Alaskan residents with limited English proficiency. He later co-produced "Anchorage is our Home", an award-winning documentary and official selection of the 2007 Anchorage International Film Festival about racism and stereotypes.
Erick has a degree in Political Science with a minor in History from Loyola University New Orleans and is currently seeking a Masters in Management with a concentration in Public Administration from American Public University. He has been a speaker at local and national conferences on issues ranging from education, ethnic and social issues pertaining to the Hispanic community and has conducted trainings on volunteer management at the Equal Justice Conference of the American Bar Association.
